Overview
This session is a taster for Members who are considering joining the Racial Trauma group which will be a closed, experiential group using ‘My Grandmother's Hands’ as the framework for monthly sessions. This group will run for a year on a monthly basis and will be split into a BIPOC and white group to allow for more in-depth and focused reflections, with space at the beginning and end to come together to share and listen. This group will be co-facilitated by Anthea Benjamin and Sage M Stephanou.
This taster session invites therapists to get a sense of the Racial Trauma Group and begin to reflect on the principles of healing racial trauma outlined in Resmaa Menakem's book 'My Grandmother's Hands'.
This session will be an experiential, embodied and creative space that will take into account the many bodies and experiences that people bring into this shared space, to explore together.
We will:
Start with a clip from Resmaa Menakem discussing Racial Trauma
Move into a creative task to explore embodied responses in a grounded way
Break
Reflections on the creative work to make sense of embodied experiences
